Dior's creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, shared a post today on Instagram announcing that the Dior Pre-Fall 2023 show will be held in Mumbai.
In an Instagram post today, Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri said she has worked at Chanakya Atelier for more than two decades, developing a close friendship and working relationship with its directors and founders, Nehal and Karishma. The experience has inspired her personally and professionally as well as influenced her and her career. Because by working at this school, she and the artisans learned a lot about hand embroidery techniques that exist in India and incorporated them into the fashion industry.
Maria said the Chanakya Technological School, opened in 2016, promoted a shared commitment to women's emancipation. Karishma has created a place for women to learn how to embroider, a place of communication, learning and liberation. She met these women and heard how school impacted their lives and helped them achieve personal and professional independence.
Maria was keen to showcase India's contribution to the international fashion world in the field of embroidery and the efforts of the founders of Chanakya to preserve Indian history and culture. Therefore, she will also go to Mumbai with her friends to attend the upcoming Dior Fall 23 Show on March 30th.
Reading between the lines shows Maria's admiration for the country's traditional crafts and protectors. To be honest, a country with traditional culture and technology like India has always been a constant source of inspiration for workers in the fashion field. Modern style evolves from tradition and pays tribute to tradition.
I can't wait to see this collision of traditional embroidery craft and modern technology. There is a high probability that this series will appear in the style of embroidery. Let's wait and see how it will be presented in Mumbai on March 30!
